@DiskDoctor

yep, finding a netbook/notebook for AROS is hard. I tried 6 notebooks/netbooks none of them worked 100%:

Dell Latitude E6410: won't boot from USB Stick, USB doesn't work at all, only VESA, no sound, WIFI only because I exchanged mini PCI-e card.

HP business Notebook (cannot remember model anymore check aros-exec.org):
same as above, LAN worked though, WLAN didn't as you cannot exchange WIFI Card (HP Bios Lock)

Acer Aspire D250: LAN=yes, Sound=yes, VESA, WLAN=no

Acer Aspire D150 (D= for Germany) LAN=no, Sound=yes (after DavyW added support for soundcard/ seems that soundcards of AcerAspire are different from country to country) VESA, WLAN=yes (Attention: not all AA150 do have Atheros 5000 in them...)

Lenovo Netbook: LAN=yes everything else= no (as far as I remember)

However, as said before Atheros mini PCI Wlan cards can be bought via ebay and mostly be fitted very easily. There is somewhere a Hardwarewiki over on Aros-exec.org.
Keep in mind, that not all Atheros cards do work, should be a 5xxx based card.

sorry and regards gerograph

@DiskDoctor
Did you try installing to a USB thumb drive as this may solve your problem?

Its also worth checking if your netbook has any usb related options in the BIOS such as USB keyboard and mouse emulation that you can try disabling.

@DiskDoctor

Finding a supported netbook is not so hard, other people have already mentioned some that actually work. With Intel moving from the first to the second generation of Atom processor/platform, many of the achivements already gotten by AROS had been placed to discussion again, however latest GMA driver can run also on GMA3100 embedded GPUs, so at least this piece of the puzzle should be OK again.

However, people interested in running AROS on a notebook/netbook should choose their hardware carefully, as like as people did with Linux years ago. Otherwise, the best option would be helping the development of proper drivers. In any case, eBay is full of products you can run AROS on.

Anyway, your issues with AROS are now long run. I can make a bootable USB pendrive for you, and see if the problem persists.
